Assignments: Week #2

Reading:
  • Monday: Section 2.1.
  • Wednesday: Sections 2.4 and 2.8.
  • Friday: Section 2.5.

Exercises:
  • Wednesday: Online Assignment - Week #2, due at 11:00pm.
  • Friday: Written Assignment - Week #2, due in class or by 3:20pm.
    1. Section 1.1 #2 (draw the direction field by hand), 30 (use dfield to draw the direction field).
    2. Section 2.2 #23. In addition to finding the minimum, determine the domain of the solution.
    3. Bonus Question (See the pdf).

For this week's assignment, you will need to use dfield to produce some of the slope fields (direction fields). If you are familiar with some other program for doing this, you may use that instead. (I know Maple has a facility for producing these diagrams.)

Online assignments are due by 11:00pm on the indicated day. Written homework may be turned in before or after class on Friday, or may be placed in your TA's mailbox before 3:20pm on Friday. The TA's mailboxes are in the Math Department office, WEH 6113.

Please make sure your homework includes the following:

  1. Your name (on every page if you ignore #4.),
  2. Your recitation section,
  3. The names of those students with whom you have collaborated,
  4. a staple.
