Title: Numerical Schemes that are able to Capture the Climate of Large Chaotic Systems

Abstract: Long time simulation of large chaotic complex systems are known to be a great challenge due to the intrinsic instability and the accumulation of errors over long time interval. We propose a family of numerical schemes for dissipative dynamical systems that are able to capture the long time statistical properties (climate) of the underlying systems. One of the key ingredients is the proper preservation of the dissipativity of the dynamical system under numerical discretization. Applications to the in?nite Prandtl number model for convection, and the barotropic quasi-geostrophic equations will be discussed.
