"On the kinematic model for spiral waves in excitable media"


We shall present some recent results on the multiplicity of rotating spirals under curvature flows with normal tip motion. This kinematic model equation is designed to describe the dynamics of spiral waves in excitable media. The sharply located spiral wave fronts are modeled as planar curves. Their normal velocity is assumed to depend affine linearly on curvature. Moreover, we shall present a class of self-similar solutions if the normal velocity is assumed to possess no driving force.
