"Numerical Approximation of Viscoelastic Fluid Flow"

Abstract

Abstract: Following a brief introduction to viscoelastic fluids I will discuss the numerical approximation of time dependent viscoelastic fluid flow. Convergence results for a fully discrete approximation algorithm will be given and illustrated for a multicomponent fluid flow example. The High Weissenberg Number problem will then be discussed. A simpler linear problem will be introduced, and analyzed, and show to exhibit similar difficulties as the High Weissenberg Number problem.
