Roy Jiang Carnegie Mellon University Title: Polynomial Method, Incidence Geometry and Erdos Distinct Distance Problem Abstract: In recent years, many outstanding problems in arithmetic combinatorics and combinatorial geometry have been solved by algebraic means, giving rise to an emerging set of techniques which is now known as the polynomial method. The purpose of the talk is to demonstrate this technique and its application in incidence geometry and Erdos distinct distances problem.
