Andrew Zucker Carnegie Mellon University Title: Amenability and Ramsey Theory Abstract: In this talk, we'll define what it means for a countably infinite group to be amenable. We'll connect this phenomenon to solving seemingly unrelated finite "puzzles." Along the way, we'll need to make a pitstop to talk about the HahnBanach theorem and linear alternatives.
