Welcome to this year's Open House! We have made efforts to maximize faculty-student interaction, so that prospective students can develop a comprehensive impression of the variety of research being conducted at CMU, under the umbrella of the Algorithms, Combinatorics, and Optimization program.

Students arrive independently at the Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh University Place, and unwind in the hotel. Visitors are encouraged to take the 28X express airport bus, to experience the frequent, efficient, and inexpensive airport connection to the CMU area. The 28X picks up outside the airport baggage claim, near door #6, and stops directly in front of the Hilton (as well as directly in front of CMU). It runs every 30 minutes, and exact fare of $3.75 is required (drivers don't carry change). Note: all CMU students receive a free bus pass which works on the entire Pittsburgh network.
The opening event will be a joint dinner reception with Computer Science from 18:00 - 20:30 at the Hilton.
This day is centered around one-on-one meetings with individual faculty. Students will have the opportunity to discuss research directions with professors spanning Mathematics, Computer Science, and the Tepper School of Business.
Please feel free to have breakfast in the Hilton, charging it to your room bill (which we will cover). The hotel also provides a complimentary shuttle to CMU. Request it the previous day, inquiring at check-in. In the past, this shuttle ran on the hour, so please plan accordingly.

For Lunches and Dinners, meet at Jenny Iglesias's office (Wean 6209).
The departure day still has meetings in the morning, and prospectives will depart to the airport immediately after lunch. Please bring your luggage to the department on Tuesday morning, to maximize your time on campus.
