Professional Background
In Septemeber 2002, I will begin my term as a Szego Assistant
Professor in the Mathematics Department at
Stanford University.
My research is in model theory, a subfield of mathematical logic. I am
particularly interested in the classification of non-elementary classes.
I completed a PhD in Mathematics at
Carnegie Mellon University on
May 19, 2002 under the guidance of
my advisor and husband,
Rami Grossberg.
My thesis
examination
committee was chaired by
John Baldwin.
A pdf version of my
thesis,
Categoricity and Stability
in Abstract Elementary Classes, is available.
Papers
-
Rami Grossberg,
Alexei Kolesnikov, Ivan Tomasic, Monica VanDieren.
The D-rank is equal to the R-rank. (22 pages).
Final version from 03/28/02.
To appear in Mathematical Logic Quarterly.

dvi,
ps, or
pdf file.

Classes.
See Chapter III of my PhD thesis for a
preliminary draft.
- Monica VanDieren. A Substitute for Saturation in Abstract Elementary
Classes. See Chapter II of my PhD thesis for a preliminary draft.
- Monica VanDieren. PhD Thesis: Categoricity and Stability in
Abstract Elementary Classes. (122 pages). Final version from May 9,
2002. Download the pdf file of the
thesis or
