Upon re-reading Strauss's first comments, I'm not sure if I'd go as
far as to call them polite. They include very strong accusations and
more than one overly broad statement about the way that the MST had
been doing his job in general. It wasn't threatening or directly
insulting, but for such a delicate matter, more tact may have been in
order.
I put forth that your estimation of Strauss's tone at that time as
both "polite and appropriate" is an opinion, and one I happen to
disagree with. It's not an offense worthy of how Alex responded, but
it didn't look like Strauss had his weapons of bile and wit
peace-bound either.
