Step-By-Step Example

The following example shows the refinement of a PLC containing 4 square faces. The only intersection of these faces is an acute angle between the yellow and the green face. Note that the red face does not intersect the other faces. The meshes below are interactive using the Javaview applet. You can rotate the meshes with the mouse and right-click for more options.


Step 0 Create the Delaunay tetrahedralization of all of the input points.


Step 1a Split adjacent edges at equal lengths.


Step 1b Refine the 1-skeleton.


Step 2a Split all segments. (technical requirement)


Step 2b Refine the 2-skeleton.


Step 2c Protect acute angles with the collar.


Step 3 Perform Delaunay refinement while protecting collar simplices.
