Plasticity

In this section, we indicate some points of contact and contrast between theories of plasticity and our development of structured deformations, and we comment on some issues in plasticity that can be clarified by employing structured deformations. Our discussion covers single slip in crystals, various measures of elastic and plastic deformation in phenomenological theories of plasticity, and the use of structured deformations in the description of crystals with defects.
