Andrew Zucker Carnegie Mellon University Title: An introduction to abstract topological dynamics Abstract: Abstract topological dynamics concerns the ways that a topological group $G$ can act continuously on a compact space $X$. We will define flows and ambits, then construct some universal objects (because ultrafilters are cool!) in the case that $G$ is discrete. Time permitting, we will see how to generalize this construction to all topological groups.
