Abstract: This talk looks at higher odd-order PDEs. The classic example of such equations is the KdV equation, which models weakly nonlinear shallow water waves. Similarity Solutions can reduce the PDE to an ODE and makes them more manageable. But a wide range of techniques are needed to describe the highly oscillatory behaviour, including asymptotic analysis, spectral theory and some numerical results.
