OPERATIONS RESEARCH

This program provides a versatile set of tools for the student interested in applications in business, government, or the financial world. Our recent graduates can be found in finance, consulting, and actuarial positions. The program can also lead to graduate study in areas such as operations research, economics, business, or statistics.

Because of the importance of decision making under uncertainty this program includes six statistics courses.

A 1993 NSF study of mathematics bachelor degree holders showed that while only 1% listed operations research as a concentration a substantial majority were employed in nonacademic areas. We offer a solid preparation for many of those careers.
