The purpose of this course is to expose the student to real-world operations management research, both by listening to reports of the research of others, and by participating in real-world research as a member of a project team. Up to two dozen investigators doing such research from both on and off campus (including many companies) give presentations to the students throughout the semester. At the same time students form their own team, write one or more research proposals, contact cooperative companies, carry out a project, and give final reports. Prerequisite: 70-471 or permission of instructor.
