First Printing Errata

The following errors appeared in the first printing, and corrected text has been submitted for the second printing. The list is in three parts: Those that affect the mathematical content, those which affect Exercises, and those which are basically window dressing.

The instructor will want to consult the second list before making assignments.

The following errors affect the mathematical content

p. 204: In discussing the costs of borrowing containers, replace $60 by $70 and $120 by $140.
p. 434: After the calculation of L₄, should be "{5}" instead of "{4}"
p. 434: In the calculation of L₂, first "3" should be d₂₄.

The following errors affect the Exercises

p. 25: In Exercise no. 14, the second y₁ in the objective function should be a y₂.
p. 33: In Exercise no. 6(b), "-13" should be "-17".
p. 33: In Exercise no. 6(d), "30" should be "40".
p. 75: In Exercise 2, add "if it exists."
p. 88: In Exercise 6, change "second constraint" to "first constraint."
p. 110: In Exercise 4.(c), replace "0,0,0" by "0,0".
p. 123: In Exercise 2, make "constraints" singular.
p. 187: In Exercise 6.(a), replace "PATH" by "ROUTE".
p. 206: In Exercise 6, move "," to after "basic".
p. 206: In Exercise 7, delete "a" in "become a basic".
p. 207: In Exercise 8, add "Determine two solutions."
p. 252: In Exercise 2, add the weight of 8 to edge {d,e}.
p. 285: In Exercise 10, replace the expressions for a and b by
a = - 32 - 7p_A + 8p_B
b = - 40 + 10p_A - 6p_B
p. 323: In Exercise 2, "first" should be "second".
p. 350: In Exercise 12, replace "for value for" by "for the value of"
p. 406: In Exercise 4(a), delete "and solve"
p. 406: In Exercise 4(b), replace "5%" by "6%".
p. 408: In Exercise 10, insert "per-unit" before "profits"
p. 440: In Exercise 2, "8.1.1" should be "8.3.1".
p. 525: Solution to Sec 4.3 no. 11 should be "A, C, F, H and I and is 18"

The following errors are mainly window dressing

p. i: "Melon" should be "Mellon"
p. iv: Should not be a ":" after "Branch and bound for integer programs"
p. v: Second "B.1" should be "B.2"
p. 225: Example 4.3.2 needs box at the end.
p. 234: "In the Table 4.4.1" should be "In Table 4.4.1"
p. 236: Example 4.4.3 needs box at the end.
p. 237: Example 4.4.4 needs box at the end.
p. 238: Exercise 6, "Table 4.4?" should be "Table 4.4.3".
p. 421: In Exercise 8, "CIN" should be "CIH".
p. 429: In the last paragraph "familar" should be "familiar".
p. 454: "Listing 9.1.3" should be "Listing 9.1.1."
p. 457: "Listing 9.1.4" should be "Listing 9.1.2."
p. 486: In the first line of Section B.2, "the" should be "that."
