The Modica-Mortola Problem in Minkowski Space

Abstract: We prove that for suitable initial data, solutions of the hyperbolic analog of the Allen-Cahn equation in a certain scaling limit exhibit interfaces whose dynamics is governed by the hyberbolic analog of the minimal surface equation. These results are valid only locally in time. This is joint work with Alberto Montero.
