Unlike other majors at Carnegie Mellon, the major in Computational Finance is available only to students who have been approved by the BSCF committee. Students typically submit their application to the program during the spring of thier sophomore year, while taking 21-270 Introduction to Mathematical Finance. The program is limited to ten majors per year, though it is rare for a student to be denied admission due to this limitation.
The minor in Computational Finance also unusual, in that certain requirements must be satisfied before declaring a minor in Computational Finance.
