Description

A useful and intensive presentation of algebra, analysis and geometry by a team of instructors. For capable and dedicated students who can allot a substantial amount of time to the study of mathematics. Aims at providing a modern background in mathematics for a career in pure or applied mathematics, science, or engineering. Topics covered include analysis in R, analysis in Euclidean spaces, linear algebra, geometry, algebraic theories, multilinear algebra, ordinary differential equations. Covers and extends the material in the courses Calculus in Three Dimensions, Advanced Calculus I and II, Algebraic Structures and Linear Algebra I. Normally taken by students in the third semester.

Friday 17 September: The analysis homework assignment for Week #3 has posted. Note that by popular acclamation, there has been a change to the due date. The next analysis assignment is due Wednesday 22 September. The next algebra assignment is due Monday 27 September. The assignment page for Week #3 has a link to where I think the algebra homework will be.
Monday 13 September: The homework assignment for Week #2 was posted on Friday. There has been a correction on the Analysis assignment, though. In problem change "... C contains a limit point of..." to "... C contains a point of..." You can find the link to the homework on the Schedule page.
Friday 3 September: The homework assignment for Week #1 has been posted. You can follow the link from the Schedule page, which has also been updated.
Thursday 2 September: As promised, we have some LaTeX tutorials and sample files. For installing and running the LaTeX program, take a look at these instructions. (a postscript version is also available, as well as the raw TeX file.) Once you get that taken care of, take a look at this sample file. If everything is working properly, it should come out looking like this (or this if you prefer postscript).
