Sequence and Series of Functions

Fall: 9 units

This course serves as a sequel to Principles of Real Analysis I. The course begins with a thorough coverage of uniform and pointwise convergence of sequences and series of functions. This is followed by application to power series and Fourier series. Additional topics may include (at the discretion of the instructor and as time permits) the Weierstrass approximation theorem, metric spaces, contraction mapping, existence of solutions to ODE's, the Arzela-Ascoli theorem, and wavelets. 3 hrs. lecture. Prerequisites: 21-241, 21-259, 21-355.
