Vahagn Aslanyan Carnegie Mellon University Title: Schanuel's conjecture and the Ax-Schanuel theorem, Part 2 Abstract: I will discuss Schanuel's conjecture and its importance in transcendental number theory and model theory. Then I will describe Zilber's approach and the construction of pseudo-exponentiation. While Schanuel's conjecture is considered out of reach, its functional analogue was proven by Ax in 1971. I will discuss Ax's theorem, now known as the Ax-Schanuel theorem or inequality, its applications and importance in differential algebra. Then I will explain how one can formalize the notion "Ax-Schanuel type inequality" and discuss the question of understanding which differential equations (or complex functions) can have such a property.
