Title: An excursion to the concentration-compactness principle

Abstract: In this talk, I will talk about a very powerful tool in calculus of variations invented by P.L. Lions called concentration-compactness. This is rather a philosophy than a theorem; but has proven to be a good guidance for people when dealing with the loss of compactness in weak convergence. Some cool applications will also be discussed NOT in details.
