Andrew Zucker Carnegie Mellon University Title: Compactness and Compactification Abstract: We consider the following question: which topological spaces can be embedded into compact spaces? We will answer this question, and along the way discuss fun things such as uniform spaces, Gelfand transforms, and near ultrafilters. Because point set topology is awesome.
