Paolo Podio Guidugli Universita' di Roma Tor Vergata Title: DISSIPATIVE ENTROPY MAKES THE HEAT EQUATION HYPERBOLIC Abstract: Infinite disturbance speed, an undesirable feature of the standard heat equation, is usually avoided by assuming a Boltzmann-Volterra dependence of the heat influx vector on the history of the temperature gradient. In the talk, it will be shown how to attain the same desideratum by postulating a constitutive splitting of entropy into standard and dissipative parts.
