In joint work with Rafael de la Llave, we use the formalism from quantum mechanical scattering theory to give rigorous conditions for the wave and scattering maps to exist for generic time-dependent vector fields in $\mathbf{R}^n$. The existence of the wave maps allows us to relate the dynamics of the perturbed system to the unperturbed system, which opens the door for many possible theoretical and computational applications. Lastly, I will discuss more recent work illustrating how the theory thus developed has been successful in giving numerical computations of invariant manifolds appearing in the analysis of laser-driven chemical reactions.Recording: http://mm.math.cmu.edu/recordings/cna/CNA-DanBlazevski-Feb-23-2012.aviRecording: http://mm.math.cmu.edu/recordings/cna/CNA-DanBlazevski-Feb-23-2012.mp4Pdf File: BlazevskiDaniel.pdfDate: Thursday, February 23, 2012Time: 1:30 pmLocation: Wean Hall 7218Submitted by:  David Kinderlehrer
