CTI CMU-Portugal Workshop in Applied Mathematics
The Information and Communication Technologies Institute (ICTI) Program in Applied Mathematics (http://icti.math.cmu.edu/index.html) offers a unique international opportunity for educational and research training in applied mathematics. The program is part of a broad Portuguese Government sponsored long-term partnership between CMU and several Portuguese universities (http://www.icti.cmu.edu) with the goal of stimulating collaborative research and fostering scientific and technological skills at the highest levels.

The first ICTI CMU-Portugal Workshop will be held on September 11, 2008, at Department of Mathematics of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal (http://www.math.cmu.edu/cna/icti08). This workshop brings together CMU and Portuguese partners to identify common research interests and to develop and enhance joint collaborations. A second goal is to discuss the initial phase of the implementation of the program and how to render it sustainable. Prospective PhD students and postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to join this effort.

Fellowships for Graduate Studies in Applied Analysis
The Center for Nonlinear Analysis (CNA) in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Carnegie Mellon University, has been awarded a National Science Foundation RTG (Research Training Group) award that will support US citizens, nationals, and permanent residents who wish to pursue graduate studies in applied analysis...
