CNA RTG Ph.D. Fellowships in Applied Analysis, Carnegie Mellon University As part of our National Science Foundation supported Research Training Group (RTG) Program, we are actively seeking applicants for the graduate program in Applied Analysis at CMU. Our goal is to streamline the path to the Ph.D. and to provide enhanced research opportunities to students interested in general areas of nonlinear partial differential equations, calculus of variations, and their applications including materials science, systems biology, and fluid flow. RTG fellowships have up to 33 months extent with no teaching duties. Participants of this program are required to be citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States, and we especially encourage applications from women and minorities. Interested applicants should follow the common graduate student application process (http://www.math.cmu.edu/graduate/admissions.html) for the Department of Mathematical Sciences, but make a special note of interest in this fellowship. Review of applications will begin on January 15, 2010, and will continue till the positions are filled. CNA Post-Doctoral Positions, Carnegie Mellon University The Center for Nonlinear Analysis anticipates making Post-Doctoral appointments beginning September 2010 in applied analysis in general areas of nonlinear partial differential equations, calculus of variations, and their applications including materials science, systems biology, and fluid flow. These will be two- or three-year joint appointments by the Center and the Department of Mathematical Sciences. Recipients will teach at most two courses per year. Applicants should submit all materials electronically at www.mathjobs.org . This includes the AMS Standard Cover Sheet, a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a statement describing current and planned research, and three letters of recommendation. Recommenders who are unable to submit their letters electronically may mail them to the committee. Processing of applications will begin on January 15, 2010. All communications should be addressed to: Post-Doctoral Appointments Committee, Center for Nonlinear Analysis, Department of Mathematical Sciences, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. Carnegie Mellon University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages applications from women and minorities.
ICTI CMU-Portugal Graduate and Postdoctoral Fellowships in Applied Mathematics The Department of Mathematical Sciences in Carnegie Mellon University anticipates to make two-year postdoctoral appointments in applied analysis, probability and stochastic analysis beginning September 2010, under the ICTI CMU|Portugal Program in Applied Mathematics . During the second year of their appointment, 2011-2012, post-docs will be at one of the following partner institutions in Portugal: Mathematics Department of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Mathematics Department of Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL), Mathematics Department of Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCTUNL), and the Mathematics Department of Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia of Universidade de Coimbra (FCTUC).
