Title: Dynamics for a system of screw dislocations

Abstract: We describe the dynamics for a system of screw dislocations subject to anti-plane shear. Variational techniques allow us to find minimizers for the energy functional associated with the system of dislocations in an elastic medium. Building on a model due to Cermelli and Gurtin, a weak notion of solutions (in the sense of Filippov) to ordinary differential equations is used to solve the dynamics problem. Some examples of interesting scenarios complement the presentation
