Claude LeBris, MA, UMN (on leave from ENPC and INRIA, France) Randomness in materials: some mathematical and computational issues Abstract: The talk will overview some recent mathematical contributions related to the modelling of randomness in materials. Modeling of solid materials will be addressed. In particular, some theoretical and numerical questions around stochastic homogenization will be overviewed (joint works with X. Blanc, PL. Lions, F. Legoll, A. Anantharamann, R. Costaouec). The last part of the talk will similarly review some mathematical issues related to modelling of fluids, and more specifically non Newtonian complex fluids (joint works with B. Jourdain, T. Lelievre, PL.Lions, S. Boyaval). TUESDAY,April 21, 2009 |
